Morning Session Content:
Abnormal uterine bleeding, with a focus on recognising and managing presentations commonly encountered in unscheduled and primary care settings.
▪ Explore the importance of history taking in relation to unscheduled abnormal uterine bleeding.
▪ Recognising common and atypical bleeding patterns.
▪ Identifying women using hormonal contraception who present with problematic bleeding, to assess for potential underlying causes.
▪ Understanding the side effects of contraceptive medications that may account for unscheduled bleeding.
▪ Recognising red flags that may indicate more serious pathology.
▪ Pharmacological treatments commonly used in urgent and primary care.
Afternoon Session Content:
Explore the importance of history taking in relation to emergency contraception.
Understand the role of menstrual cycle timing in determining the effectiveness and appropriate choice of emergency contraception, including assessing risk of ovulation and pregnancy.
Understanding emergency contraception, aligned with FSRH guidance.
Explain the mechanisms of action, effectiveness, and appropriate use available emergency contraception methods.
Apply current clinical guidelines and make informed decisions, considering potential drug interactions and the timely initiation of emergency contraception
